Sažetak
Aim: The study examined the “family relationships” domain as reported in resultsof the FQOL Survey that was used in Croatia with families with a member with an intellectual disability (ID). Method: Data collection was conducted in three towns in Croatia: Osijek (eastern part), Varaždin (western part) and Zagreb (capital city) using FQOLS (Brown et al., 2006). Participants were parents (N=51) of children with an ID, aged 8-21 years who attend special schools in the towns. Both quantitative and qualitative data were considered. Results: Croatian families rated the importance of “family relationships” at the highest level ; “initiative in family relationships”, “attainment”, “opportunities” and “satisfaction” were also rated high. These quantitative results are complemented by qualitative research findings. Conclusion: These high ratings show that this domain is prominent in the lives of families that have a member with ID in Croatia, and also reaffirm the findings of previous international FQOLS research.
