Sažetak
The paper explores the development of efficient garment sizing systems with special reference to the contribution of the first Croatian Technical Report. The contributions of anthropometric surveys created with the aim of developing and further improving clothing and footwear size systems are analyzed. A special contribution to these problems was made when within the scope of EU a technical committee was established and proportions created that are contained in the ISO and EN series of standards. Ever since the industrial revolution and the first introduction of mass production, clothing industry has been struggling with differences in ensuring properly fitted clothing within the constraints of economic and practical sizing systems for different persons of the population. A special contribution is made to the results of the research performed within the framework of the comprehensive national project "Croatian Anthropometric System". The experimental part of the paper presents the results as a contribution to the national survey of body proportions of children, men and women. In concluding this paper the authors describe a great contribution of the Technical Report HRI 1148:2011 prepared by Prof. Ujević with associates and the Technical Committee HZN/T0 560 within the Croatian Standards Institute, all based on investigations and results of the Croatian Anthropometric Systems as a normative document of clothing sizes and as a supplement to international and European standards.
