Sažetak
In this paper attention is called to unbreakable linkages between life-long learning, generation of intellectual capital and creation of sustainable competitive advantage. Unlike costs, benefits of learning are very difficult to measure which often diverts organizations (countries alike) from investing in intellectual development of its workforce. However, in today’s turbulent environment characterized by tremendous technological, economic and social changes and fast transition of societies, in order to stay competitive organizations (countries alike) must continuously upgrade knowledge base of its employees through means of formal and informal education and capability enhancements. Authors of this paper suggest that the best way for the company to create and sustain competitive advantage in the long-run is to embrace aspects of life-long learning. Paper also provides brief overview of the adoption of life-long learning in Croatia while describing the current market opportunities and threats.
