Sažetak
In order to increase the drilling capacity of the jack-up drilling unit Labin, which is limited by the strength of the lower derrick substructure, and extensive structural analysis was undertaken. It included the strength analysis of the existing, reinforced and extended substructure exposed to various loading conditions. The analysis was performed using the finite element method and superelement technique. The "zooming" technique was applied for local stress concentration analysis. The stability of compressed structural elements was checked. The strength of the bearing foundation and hold down devices was also considered. The redesigned derrick substructure meets the strength criteria and has been approved by the ABS.
