Sažetak
Communication systems in the power industry, historically, have been isolated from other information infrastructures and latest trends. Most important working criteria were quality, reliability, speed, but not security. Security was based on specialized, obscure and enclosed communication protocols. By development of new protocols for power systems (IEC 61850, IEC 60870- 5, ICCP/TASE.2) based upon open standards and architectures, view on security has changed significantly. Deregulation of electrical power market and defending critical infrastructure are only some of the key points that stress importance of information security for communication systems in the power industry. Mentioned security issues led to creation of security standards IEC 62351.
