Sažetak
This paper gives an overview of Gothic church architecture in Međimurje, viewed from the aspect of protection and preservation of cultural heritage. To better understand this issue, the creation and shaping of this architecture is placed in historical framework and stylistic context. Interventions that have been carried out on these church buildings over the years, have been examined through the development of conservation thought in Croatia. When we talk about this architecture in Međimurje, we should take into account the fact that this is a provincial architecture, which is on the margins of the main trends and achievements of the large centers, but as such meet the needs and tastes of its environment. The exception from this is architectural sculpture, which has good quality and clearly shows the central European influences, which are placed in connection with the achievements of Peter Parler and his circle, although it should be noted that here this forms occur with a certain time distance.
