Sažetak
The goal of the work is to demonstrate recent processes of demographic development as a factor of urbanisation in the Zagreb area and confirm the hypothesis about the interdependency of demographic development, migrations and processes of urbanisation. In this work, the example of Zagreb is used to demonstrate the growth and development of the city and its immediate surroundings, under the spatial jurisdiction of the City of Zagreb and the neighbouring Zagreb County. The emphasis is on recent tendencies of population redistribution and on demographic urbanisation ; that is, on the growth of the proportion of urban population within the total population in the period from 2001 until 2011.Conclusions are presented about the continuation of previously observed tendencies regarding the advancement of the distribution picture of this area to the advantage of immediate surroundings of Zagreb. The data sources are population censuses, including the most recent one from 2011, referential scientific works and the spatial documentation of the City of Zagreb.
