Sažetak
Although there are numerous clinical compromised situations, implant treatment has become a routine clinical procedure in dental practice. Bone grafting before implant placement has become a routine procedure over the last 20 years. However, the traditional approaches are now evolving toward more comprehensive techniques, such as tissue bone engineering that will dramatically influence the way we practice. Patients with reduced quantity or quality of bone, reffered to as compromised bone present a significant challenge to the dental implantologist. Parameters of alveolar bone quality should predict the success rate of dental implant therapy. The term compromised is generally applied to describe bone of compromised quantity and/or quality as a result of trauma, disease state, or a natural aging process. When classifying compromised bone in implant dentistry, the factors most important for implant osseointegration should be taken into account. These include bone volume and structure, as well as cellular and vascular factors.
