Sažetak
Educational inclusion is one of the biggest challenges of the 21st century, caused by the intention to create an inclusive, healthy society, «a society for all».This research aims to determine certain factors of tolerance in creating efficient programs of intervention upon the environment in order to create a positive climate for educational inclusion. The sample includes four six-grade classes, each from a different elementary school in Zagreb, selected for having at least three pupils with IEP. The total number of pupils was 100, 14 of them with difficulties , along with 69 parents. It was found that lower level of self-perception of sixth-grade pupils is related to lower satisfaction of pupils and lower level of tolerance for other pupils. Furthermore, a relationship between low parental competence and lower level of tolerance of their children was established. These two findings should determine the programs interventions upon children and their parents. Enticing friendly relationships among children can contribute to greater satisfaction with themselves and school and support them in being more tolerant in school. However, without including all parents and supporting them in their parental efforts, we cannot expect them to serve as a role model to their children in exercising tolerance, regardless of whether the child has learning difficulties or not. Some parents have a very clear definition of tolerance and understand it as an active process, which is why it is crucial for them to discuss it with other parents in the neighbourhood as this would stress the importance of tolerance in lives of their children and contribute to "a school for all".
