Sažetak
Reinforced-concrete frames with masonry infill (infilled frames) are composite bearing system whose behaviour under seismic excitation is still not quantified and valorised. Influence of infill to the seismic response of such composite system in Eurocodes is not clearly defined and is usually disregarded for design of the new buildings and for evaluation of existing ones. The presence of masonry infill significantly changes structural characteristics of frame building and create new failure mechanisms. In this study we have numerically investigated the effects of different parameters on the seismic behaviour of non-ductile reinforced-concrete frames with masonry infill. The nonlinear FEM software ATENA 2D ver. 4.3. was used. Reinforced-concrete frames are flexible and can sustain large deformations, but that implies large damages. Masonry infill constrains deformations of the frame and increases its stiffness and strength especially at the range of small deformations. Inserting an infill brings stiffness and strength to the system, thus improving its behaviour and lowering potential damages if it is placed regularly throughout the structure and does not cause shear failures of columns. Non-ductile reinforced-concrete frames with masonry infill presents special case and they require particular attention since they represent the biggest sample of the present building stock in Southern Europe.
