Sažetak
Process fertilizer waste waters contain high amount of nitrogen in the form of NH4+ and NO3-. This water also contains compounds of phosphorus, potassium, fluoride, chloride, sulphates and suspended matter.
In this paper the efficiency of the ion exchange process of the waste water treatment in the fertilizer plant INA-Petrokemija, Kutina, Croatia is presented. Waste water treatment has been realized by using strong acid cation and weak base anion exchange resins.
The effect of the nitrogen removal is very high, thus the concentration of ammonium nitrogen has been reduced from 150 mg N/L to 10 mg N/L and nitrate nitrogen from 100 mg N/L to 8 mg N/L.
The goal of the investigation was to found optimum of the conditions of the waste water treatment process for the purpose of increase the efficiency of the ionic exchange resins used.
