Sažetak
Grančarevo Arch Dam in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Figure 1) was constructed in 1968. The dam is double curved, with its high in crest of 123 meters, and its length in crest of 439 meters. Its bottom thickness is 27 meters and its top thickness is 4.6 meters. The paper first shortly present the previously developed numerical model for the static and dynamic analysis of water-soil-structure coupled system. The solution of coupled problem is based on the so-called the partitioned solution scheme. For spatial discretization, the finite element method is used. It is possible to use plane or spatial models for structure and water (2D elements, 3D elements, shell elements). For the temporal discretization finite difference method is used with explicit-implicit Newmark’s iterative algorithm. The dam is first analyzed for self weight and hydrostatic water pressure. Numerical results (displacements and stresses) are in very good accordance with the measured results. The dam is then analyzed on an earthquake from 1986, which is registered at the bottom of the dam. The obtained numerical results (displacements, stresses, accelerations) on the dam crest are also in good agreement with the measured results during this earthquake. Thereafter, dynamic analyses of the dam with different real and scaled earthquakes are conducted. The possible damages to the dam, as well as its ultimate bearing capacity and safety, are determined. At the end, the most important conclusions of examined analyses was given.
