Sažetak
One of the peculiarities of the city of Osijek are its parks after which the town got its name Green city, and City of Parks. The parks connect the historic urban areas with the most valuable architectural heritage (Tvrđa, Upper Town, Lower Town, New Town), which constitute an integrity. In the beginning there were tree alleys along the access roads, afterwards parks were starting to emerge in order to integrate the city into a compact unit. The park and garden architecture is part of the identity of the city of Osijek from its early beginnings. This is particularly evident in the area around the baroque Tvrđa, and since the end of its defensive function the most important parks of the city of Osijek have arisen.
