Sažetak
Magnetic orderings driven by competing interactions on a frustrated lattice usually result in complex phase diagrams that are challenging to study. Intercalated Co atoms in the layered NbS2 matrix form a triangular lattice and at ambient pressure Co0.33NbS2 exhibit an antiferromagnetic like order at 26 K. While the parent compound 2H-NbS2 exhibits a pressure independent superconducting transition at 6 K, the hydrostatic pressure suppresses the magnetic ordering temperature in the Co0.33NbS2}; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; to zero at 2 GPa. Disappearance of magnetic ordering with pressure has been recently confirmed with elastic neutron scattering experiment. The ordering mechanism is not yet fully understood, although those scenarios that include super- exchange and RKKY interactions are natural candidates. At pressures above 3 GPa a minimum in the resistivity appears followed by a logarithmic rise of the resistivity with lowering temperature. This indicates Kondo screening of Co magnetic moments leading to formation of Kondo spin liquid. Notably, no superconductivity was found between these two phases down to dilution temperatures.
