Sažetak
Many of the disease like common flu, hepatitis A, Norovirus and other diseases transmitted via fecal-oral route can be prevented by regular and thoroughly hand washing. In order to raise the awareness of regular hand washing we have organized a workshop within kindergarten population of one Rijeka’s kindergarten subgroup. In our work we included 17 children from three to six years old. The workshop was organized in two days. Prior to our practical work we took the finger impression on blood agar plate. For the education of children common coloring book with the schema of correctly washing hand were used. During the presentation of thoroughly hand washing the children were trained to sing a short simple 15 seconds song. For the practical education the minced cinnamon and sunflower oil were used. Second day the children repeated the hand washing protocol and we took the imprints again. The preschool children saw the bacteria grown on the blood agar prior to washing hands and a fine impression was achieved. From the practical work the children tried and realized that the best way to wash hand and wash away the cinnamon and the oil is warm water and soap. Our workshop improved the awareness of preschool children of proper hand washing through practical and adjusted approach.
