Sažetak
In order to examine the effectiveness of hygienic maintenance in one University institution we tested the number of aerobic mesophilic bacteria (AMB) and the presence of Enterobacteriaceae and Enterococcus on faucet, toilet tank, door handle of the toilet, common student keyboard/mouse and the touch screen of studomat which is in frequent use. The sampling was performed at 8 a.m. before the student crowd and 2 p.m. during the student crowd for three consecutive days. For the determination of the microbiological contamination swab method was used and were possible we used sterile pattern dimension 5 x 5 cm. The number of AMB was determined using yeast extract agar, the presence of Enterobacteriaceae was determined using VRBG agar and Enterococcus using KEA agar. The number of AMB was higher in the period of intensive student movement at 2 p.m. for Monday and Tuesday but on Wednesday the number of AMB was higher in the morning sampling results. The higher number of AMB was detected on the faucet and the door handle of the toilet. The bacteria belonging to family Enterobacteriaceae were not isolated, while the genus Enterococci was isolated from toilet tank, keyboard/mouse and the touch screen of studomat. Besides common cleaning protocols our results show that the accent on hygienic maintenance must be focused on the details such as door handle, keyboard/mouse and the touch screen of the studomat.
