Sažetak
In late 1950s Zagreb spread over the river Sava turning fields into the new residential complexes. An urbanization concept was used to solve the lack of flats caused by the intensive migrations as a result of industrialization. The Trnsko estate was the first completely planned and urbanized estate in the area of New Zagreb. The starting point for this research is one of six residential towers designed by the Croatian architect Slavko Jelinek built in Trnsko between 1963-1966. The tower has a non- residential basement, ground floor, twelve floors and 52 residential units. It was built in a simple, rational and economical way according to achievements of functional planning model. Building construction parts and materials of building envelope are worn out and do not correspond current regulations. Frequent uncontrolled alterations were made in the building throughout the occupancy of the building. This project deals with questions how to renovate the existing multi-apartment building built in mid 1960s, in particular concerning the improvement of thermal insulation and energy efficiency. Conditions and requirements in terms of building physics and climate present new challenges in the practice of renovation planning project. Implementing optimal energy efficiency measures heat loss can be prevented, greater savings can be attained in heating energy consumption, satisfying the needs and comfort of the occupants.
