Sažetak
Environmental education aims to encourage positive behaviour towards the environment in order to promote sustainable development. Everywhere the need is felt for environmental education for all age groups and at all levels of formal and informal education. There is a widespread consensus that environmental education should not be turned into an independent school discipline. The problem-solving approach which involves identifying and analysing a problem, defining the problems with a view to action, formulating hypotheses, searching for alternative solutions, and applying the solutions that are ultimately selected is the most suitable one for environmental education. Facilities and schemes outside the school make important contributions to environmental education and activities. Teacher training is the pre-condition for the promotion and spread of environmental education.
