Sažetak
The author analyses alternative energy sources such as biodegradable waste and wastewaters that may be used close to the site of their generation, the use whereof is of multifold benefit as they are important in the production of energy and in agriculture as well as in carbon sequestration. The paper considers the significance of ancient Indian Terra Preta which is the object of current studies for increasing soil productivity in ecological agriculture and for resolving the issue of greenhouse effect, generating of which may be incorporated in modern decentralized sanitation systems based on the circulation of matter. Particular consideration is given to potential reuse of energy and sludge from wastewaters and biodegradable waste in the Republic of Croatia.
