Sažetak
Recent neuroanatomical and neurophysiological discoveries support the hypothesis that proprioception may be efficientmechanisms for nystagmus damping. The goal of this study is to evaluate the effects of proprioceptive stimulation on the nystagmus suppresion. 15 children with nystagmus were included in this study. They were exposed to the neck-muscle vibration in duration of 25 minutes. The nystagmus waveforms and visual acuity were evaluated prior to and after exposure to the vibrations. The obtained results suggest that proprioception may be an important factor in the nystagmus damping. It seems that the existence of proprioceptive feedback loops lead to positive changes in the extraocular plant.
