Sažetak
Different spur pruning techniques of cv. Chardonnay (Vitis vinifera L.) on cordon trained vines were evaluated in this trial, in order to establish the performance of cv. Chardonnay under spur pruning and to asses the maximal yield that can be achieved with this training form without lowering grape quality in the agroecological conditions of Istria. The trial was performed in 2006 and 2007. All cordon trained vines had eight arms on which spurs with one or two buds were positioned. Four different pruning techniques were used in this trial, combining different number of spurs per arm and different number of buds per spur, in order to obtain bud loads of 16 and 32 buds per vine. Yield per vine, yield per hectare, number of shoots per vine, number of clusters per vine and average cluster weight were measured as productive parameters. Total soluble solids, titratable acidity and pH were measured as qualitative parameters. Higher bud loads resulted with higher yields per vine, lower average cluster weight and lower degree Brix. There were not differences in productive parameters between treatments pruned to one or two buds per spur if total number of buds per vine was equal. Obtained results indicate that all investigated spur pruning techniques are suitable for cv. Chardonnay and they can be effectively used in order to produce satisfactory yields of good quality grapes.
