Sažetak
Dental radiology is one of the most important components of dental diagnostics. The materials must be radiopaque in order to differentiate dental structures from the restorative materials, as well as recurrent dental caries. This analysis used modern composite materials, 30 of the samples were high viscosity composites and 18 of the samples were low viscosity. Composite plates were 1mm thick and had a radius of 4.1mm ; they were made using steel metal molds. The aluminum step wedge is made of 99.98% aluminum in accordance with ISO standards. Three plates of each dental material samples, that are used for radiopacity analysis, are placed on a digital X-ray sensor, along with the 99.98% aluminum step wedge and a mesiodistal section of the tooth. Digital radiography is a form of X-ray imaging that uses digital X-ray sensors instead of the traditional X-ray film. The advantages include more efficient and quicker transfer of images as well as lower doses of radiation when compared to other conventional imaging methods. Image analysis was done using an optic densitometric software Digora for Windows, which proved to be precise and easy to use in measurements. In order to analyze the change in radiopacity of dental materials, a standard 60kV and 0.06s exposition was used. Most of the analyzed materials comply with the 4049 ISO standard. Eleven flowable composite materials and twenty five solid composite materials displayed higher radiopacity than dental enamel. The material with the lowest radiopacity in this analysis is the solid composite material GC gradia Direct Anterior A3, used for aesthetic fillings on the front teeth.
