Sažetak
Respecting the importance of game in psychophysical development of children, this paper presents team game that is completely adjusted to children from 8 to 12 years - mini-handball. Rules, field dimensions and size of the ball are designed to engage children’s maximum motor and functional as well as psychosocial potentials. The technique is easy to learn, and the emphasis is on participation, fair play and cooperation while the tactics and winning are not so important. Boys and girls can play mini handball together and the game dynamics and ease of play allow most children to participate equally in it. Following the example of many countries of Western Europe in which this game has achieved considerable success, it would be necessary to implement mini handball in Physical Education, and turn it into a competitive school sport organized by the Croatian School Sports Association. Everything mentioned will contribute to the development of our most successful team sport and raise quality of Physical Education and, equally important, the satisfaction of children for physical activity at school.
