Sažetak
Tuber donnagotto is a new winter black truffle belonging to the order Pezizales and the family Tuberaceae. It grows in winter in calcareous gravel soil (pH 7.7) along the northern coast of the Adriatic Sea (Croatia) in pure pine forest (Pinus halepensis Mill.). According to appearance, it is similar to other black truffles (Tuber aestivum, T.uncinatum, T.brumale, T.mesentericum, T.melanosporum). However, it is cleary different from previously known black truffles by very irregular cavities reaching the middle of fruiting bodies. These cavities are cleary evident in an appropriate section. The most significant characteristic of this truffle is that when it is hermetically sealed, it can be kept in the fridge (2-4 C) for more than 60 days. T.brumale Vittad. is somewhat similar and also grows in winter, however its fruiting bodies are notably smaller and more regular. Odor is strong and persistant and according to Vittadini similar to that of the cortex of Cornus sanguinea. Tuber donnagotto has a slight odor but plasent and reminiscent of Boletus aestivalis or B.edulis. Furthermore, Tuber brumale Vittad. has eliptical yellow-brown spores, densely ornamented with single spines, well spaced, rigid and sharp, while Tuber donnagotto is yellow-brownish and has reticulate-alveolate spores, size 20-30 x 20-25µm. According to the rules of the International Code of Nomenclature, nwe species will be described in the near future in a special journal using Latin terminology. Etymology: In honor of the dogs (Dona&Gotto) of the breed Lagotto Romagnolo who find truffles.
