Sažetak
Use of mushroom in healing properties is widespread in traditional medicine in Asia. The researches conduced in the second half of the past century by the official science has demonstrated the presence of many biological active molecules in different mushroom species. Among mushroom’s biological active compounds polysaccharides are considered the most interesting. The chapter reviews the history of the use of the mushrooms in medical purposes in the traditional medicines. Moreover the knowledge on biological active compounds and their mechanism of action are reviewed.
