Sažetak
Children’s cots belong to a group of construction type furniture for lying. They are intended for infants, but can also be used by children whose height corresponds to the inner length of bed base of 1400 mm. The paper contains an overview of historical development of children’s cots, definitions of particular construction types, wood and non-wood materials for their manufacture, a methodical approach to designing and constructing children’s cots, standards for testing technical qualities of children’s cots and a comparison of Croatian (HR) and European norms (EN). Considerable difference has been noted between Croatian (HR) and European standards (EN); therefore, designers of children’s cots and experts in testing the quality of children’s cots are instructed to accept European standards as a means of improving constructional solutions of children’s cots and advancing work in furniture testing laboratories.
