Sažetak
The work encompassed the strength testing of corner L-joints on chair frames made of beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) and pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). The goal was to determine which physical and mechanical properties influence the strength of L-joints used in furniture constructed of solid wood. The results of testing determine the range of practical applications of new joining elements. The experiment was performed on two groups of specimens. One of them consisted of Minifix harpoon bolts in plastic dowel, which are fixed with cylindrical wedge. The other type was a joint with Minifix threaded bolts in metal socket which are fixed with cylindrical wedge. Regression analysis was applied to define the dependence of the breaking strength upon various kinds of wood, types of joints, and other physical and mechanical characteristics. The results obtained were compared with the results of strength tests undertaken on glued joints of equal dimensions and form. The results show that the joints with Minifix harpoon and Minifix fastenings exhibit smaller strength in comparison with glued wood joints of the same shape and dimension.
