Sažetak
Wood color and texture belongs to a group of physical wood characteristics and they are main term of reference of esthetical wood appearance. Today's trend in the World is use of the natural materials. Furniture manufacturing is using different species of the wood and veneers in natural or slightly changed color and textures, which give the furniture a special charm. About color and texture of natural wood and veneers depends which species will be used for furniture manufacturing. Task of this paper is color determination of the four wood species. Two of four species are representatives for softwood, and other two are representatives for hardwood. This species are fir, spruce, oak and chestnut. Aim of determination of natural wood color is to establish is there is a significant difference in color between same sample of wood, two subspecies and two different wood species of softwood or hardwood. With usage of scientific methods it is tried to determine if it is possible to use values from wood color determinations for wood classification by species in other words as key for determination of wood species.
