Sažetak
DECADES study for Croatia was carried out in the framework of the Technical Co-operation Program between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Vienna, and the country of Croatia. The title of the Program is The Management of the Energy Sector Policy Planning in Croatia (MESPO), registered with the IAEA under the code CRO/0/002. The program took two years to be completed (1997-1998). The goal of the MESPO program is to determine the most appropriate strategies for development of the energy and electricity system, that will be cost efficient, provide safe energy supply and comply with requirements of environmental protection adjusted to the countrys policy. Within the MESPO Project the following analyses were carried out as components of the integral project: the MAED study, the WASP study, the BALANCE study, and the IMPACTS study. Those studies comprised energy consumption forecasts in all economy sectors and electricity consumption forecast (MAED), optimization of power generating system expansion (WASP), energy balances (BALANCE) and finally, environmental effects of the entire energy sector in Croatia (IMPACTS). Another model, called DECADES, is designed exclusively for power system analysis. It comprises both optimization of power system expansion options and calculation of their environmental impact. Detailed backgrounds ans results of the DECADES study for Croatia will be presented here. DECADES study for Croatia was conducted at the Faculty of electrical engineering and computing Zagreb, at the Department of Power Systems.
