Sažetak
Penicillium expansum is a post-harvest pathogen of apples which can produce the hazardous mycotoxin patulin. The wound colonised by the fungus constitute a highly oxidative environment. In this study culture filtrates of the different basidiomycete were used in order to obtain the biocontrol activity of LS28. Extracts from Lentinula edodes showed the best results. In vitro L edodes culture filtrates improved the activity of oxidant scavenger enzymes catalase and glutathione peroxidase in P. expansum. In addition. L. edodes also delayed P. expansum conidia germination. Apple treatment with L. edodes filtrates improved the inhibition of P. expansum growth and patulin production in comparison, under both experimental and semi-commercial conditions. The biocontrol effect was confirmed by a semi-quantitative PCR analysis set up for monitoring the growth of P. expansum.
