Sažetak
Within the European project EUREKA E! 4208 PUREWATER (2008-2011) contribution to the Croatian partners (Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Textile Technology, CWG) was shown by defining the chemical and physical characteristics of natural zeolite material and its modified form (in sodium, hydrogen and iron form). A systematic approach to optimizing the synthesis parameters of modified zeolite material was the basis of the research. Prepared and characterized samples were used for analysis of ion exchange processes on zeolite / solution interface and adsorption processes in the contact solutions zeolite / solution of metal ions such as zinc, iron, chromium, arsenic and silver. The processes of ion exchange and adsorption were monitored along with the hydrolytic activity of natural and modified zeolites. Their chemical stability was investigated. Effect of heat treatment on the efficiency of natural and modified zeolites was also investigated.
