Sažetak
Despite encouragement and appointment of experts by the EU, only three relevant international treaties regulating EU procedural and private international law were signed in the period from the Treaty of Rome to Treaty of Amsterdam, aperiod lasting 40 years. Moreover, in last 10 years, since the treaty of Amsterdamwas adopted in order to reform the EU legislation and help to create an ultimate judical body, a uniqe EU private international law has emerged, gradually replacing private international laws of Member States. The former regime of international conventions has been replaced by secondary EU law, i.e. regulations and directives, adoption of which belongs to the jurisdictions of the Council of the EU. The paper is focused on Rome II Regulation, including a concise overwiev of its emergence, the discussion and proposals preceding its completion and its implication, relevance and key features.
