Sažetak
A preprogrammed air volume obtained from the animal housing biozone and immediate farm environment by a standard air sampler (MAS-100, Merck) was directly impacted onto the bacteriologic agar surface (Petri dishes, standard diameter of 90 mm). In 48 air samples from housings accommodating animals, the mean bacterial count was 2.59 x 10^5 CFU/m^3 (ranging from 8.46 x 10^4 to 5.30 x 10^5 CFU/m^3). The potentially pathogenic bacterial agents predominated in all samples (100%), while primarily pathogenic bacteria were isolated in a minor proportion of samples (33%-66%). Determination in the samples (N=16) obtained from empty housings, upon removal of animals, showed airborne bacterial contamination ranging from 1.8 x 10^3 CFU/m^3 (after rough mechanical washing) to 0.8 x 10^2 CFU/m^3 (upon completion of disinfection). Control measurements at different locations and distance from the object (N=32) pointed to the presence of nonpathogenic airborne bacteria, which ranged from 1.55 x 10^2 to 3.70 x 10^2 CFU/m^3. Results of these preliminary studies showed the emission of potentially pathogenic bacteria via aerosol from animal housing to the immediate farm environment to be very low.
