Sažetak
Palindromic sequences are known to stimulate recombination events which can result with potentially dangerous rearrangements of genetic material. Hairpins and cruciforms are secondary structures formed by palindromes and are targets for cleavage by structure specific endonucleases. In yeast, several proteins have hairpin and/or cruciform cutting activities, and to gain more insight into process leading to formation of DNA breaks in these structures, in this work we analyzed the effect of deletion of yeast CRP1 gene on palindrome-mediated recombination. It was shown that the deletion of the CRP1 does not influence palindrome mediated recombination in yeast cells.
