Sažetak
This article brings a short genesis of Italian heterostereotypical models in presenting Croatia and Croats in Italian literature from the 18th century till today and an analysis of their role in the texts of Italian publicists and writers that thematize the questions related to cultural and national identity of different social groups on the territory of former Jugoslav republics. As it is mainly the matter of stereotypical constructions arisen in the framework of “balcanistic” and “transadriatic semi-orientalistic discourse”, in the paper will be combined imagological and postcolonial methodological approach. The analyses of the selected texts reveal different strategies in the elaboration of particular stereotypical pictures, from non-critical taking over noticed in A. Petacco via the alternative disclosure and reproduction in P. Rumiz to their deconstruction in E. Bettiza.
