Sažetak
Standardized microscopic evaluation of urine sediment is an important part of routine analysis of urine. We evaluated the UriSed- automated urine sediment microscopy analyzer developed by 77 Elektronika Kft., Budapest, Hungary to find out is it capable to count reliably urine particles as manual microscopy of supravitally stained specimens (according the European Urinalysis Guidelines).UriSed takes pictures through its built in microscope in several points and evaluate them by a high quality image processing software in order to detect basic urine particles: red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC), casts, squamous epithelial cells (EPI) and non-squamous epithelial cells (non EPI). Measuring performance of Urised was checked by Quantimetrix control solutions in normal and pathological range. The results for imprecision expressed as coefficient of variation (CV %) for RBC and WBC were within the range of 3.57-7.34 with good linearity. The correlations studies included 100 urine specimens for each urine sediment particle. UriSed counted RBC at r = 0.939 ; WBC at r = 0, 953 ; EPI at r = 0, 972 ; non-EPI at r = 0.8126 and casts at r= 0.792. The UriSed showed good precision and it was capable to count reliably RBC, WBC, EPI, non-EPI and casts. The use of UriSed is simple and convenient, standardizes the predanalytical phase and the procedure of counting, and provides storage of whole image results which could be re- evaluated any time.
