Sažetak
As part of the anthropology component of the 12th International Histocompatibility Workshop a total of 104 randomly chosen autochtonous inhabitants of the island of Hvar were studied for class II polymorphisms. the purpose of this study is to continue our previous work on class l and class ll polymorphism in Croatian population as well as in populations of Dalmatian Islands. The island of Hvar belongs to the group of Middle Dalmatian Islands, Republic of Croatia. The island has a total of about 11500 inhabitants in 24 settlements. Considering the geographic configuration, ethnohistorical and socio-cultural characteristics the insular population can be divided into the subpopulations of western and eastern regions of the island.
