Sažetak
The goal of this paper is to research and present the possibilities and the perspectives of the development of tourism – related sports services in Croatian tourism. Sports-recreational tourism in the world is nowadays a developed type of tourism and it belongs to the most frequent types of tourism. Namely, the trend of the development of modern tourism is aimed at the so-called active tourism in which sports represents an important motive for tourist migrations. The sports-recreational tourism in Croatia is the most frequent type of tourism. The fact that Croatia belongs to the European countries in which both the high performance sport and the sports recreation (‘sport for all’) contributes to the development of sport in general. Consequently, numerous sports facilities were built in Croatia thus enabling the active rest of tourists. After the war in Croatia, the Croatian tourism is now at the turning-point of its development. The strategy of the development is based on paying attention to the high-quality types of tourism among which the sports-recreational tourism has special significance. Various programmes of this type of tourism can be developed in Croatia by applying a marketing concept. Therefore, it is necessary to create a new tourism - related sports marketing – mix with all its elements.
