Sažetak
The paper presents the results of research conducted as part of a large Croatian national project Evaluation of teaching curricula and development of the national curriculum for compulsory education in Croatia. The resarch involved a detailed analysis of the characteristics of art education in 12 European countries and a comparison with the situation in Croatia. The results reveal the role and place of art education with respect to other subjects as well as the developing dimension of the national core curricula.
