Sažetak
Book systematically presents various approximations of functions based on researches of Chebyshev, Fourier, Gauss, Gibbs, Gram, Hermite, Lagrange, Laguerre Legendre, Maclaurin, Pade, Remez, Rodrigues and Taylor. It systematizes various kinds of expansions, least-squares approximation, uniform approximation and approximation with orthogonal functions and orthogonal polynomials. Chebyshev series are used in almost uniform approximation, as well as economisation of existing approximation formulas. Practical application is supported by 35 algorithms and 40 examples. Algorithms are written in the pseudo-code, so they can be easily interpreted. The book also provides a valuable background for understanding various numerical methods based on interpolation and numerical integration.
