Sažetak
The aim of this research was to determine the level of physical activity in families with preschool children. This research presents the results obtained on a preschool children, 78 ± 6 months old and their parents. The results showed that 50% of fathers and 25% of mothers, in their youth, were involved in some sports outside the organized school activities, or they have been working out more than twice a week. Today, 35% of fathers and mothers are engaged in the recreational activities. Nearly 30% of examined children spends less than one hour per day playing outdoors. In addition, almost 50% of children spends approximately three hours per day passively, watching television or using computers. Number of children involved in organized physical activities is around 35%. All other children exercise in kindergarten less than twice a week. The differences that appeared between children, which are caused by gender, refer to the greater affinity of the boys in involvement in organized physical exercise within the short kinesiological programs performed in kindergarten. Twice a week of organized physical activity provides that. The results of this study leads to the conclusion that a significant number of families in Zagreb have a sedentary lifestyle.
