Sažetak
Aquaculture is fast growing food sector. Tuna rearing constitutes significant part of this industry and Croatia was one of the major bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) Mediterranean producers. Almost all reared tuna finish in Japanese fish market and end in restaurant tables respecting their tradition, usually uncooked. Some of parasites of reared tuna that finish on Croatian market present potential threat to human health. To investigate parasitofauna of reared bluefin tuna we have monitored one tuna farm in the Middle Adriatic, in spring and autumn from 2005 to 2010. Parasitic analysis was conducted together with bacteriological and viral to get better insight into tuna health. During monitoring some of the analyses were made in situ like microscope examination on skin and gills together with macroscopic examination of internal organs during necropsy. Subsequent molecular analyses of sampled parasites were made in the laboratory using PCR method. Results of this investigation, together with previous knowledge, should be the basis for future monitoring of tuna farm impacts elsewhere.
