Sažetak
The paper is based on a macro economic analysis and tries to answer the question ; to what extent do the technologies in international trade (i.e. export activities and import activities) present a source of competitive advantage in the Croatian economy? The structure of the paper is as follows. Following the introduction, the second part presents a literature review which explains the influence of technology on export competitiveness. The central part of the paper shows the analysis of the Croatia's export competitiveness in comparison to the main trade partners from the western countries (Austria, Germany and Italy) as well as the main trade partners from the Eastern Europe (Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland). The values have been analyzed using the criterion of technological complexity developed by Lall (2001). Concluding remarks have been mentioned at the end of the paper.
