Sažetak
One of the most important fields of rapid development are cultural industries. It is necessary to define national policy in this field as well as local one ; particularly when towns are concerned. Studies in cultural management overall the Europe are lacking international dimension. They are bringing primarily national experiences despite that diversity of students coming from all part Europe and other continents need internationally focused curriculum. Urban cultural planning is one of most important tools to achieve sustainable development. To have success in these activities of utmost importance is process of mapping of cultural resources. Evaluation is mostly lacking instruments to define which cultural initiatives and undertakings are most successful as well as to prove that national cultural policy is innovative, effective and efficient. Summary: Cities all over the Europe are very competitive and they are carriers of the most innovative and original cultural efforts. The region of Souteastern Europe has been behind this obvious trends. From the year 2000 the situation has changed and we are witnessing important shift in these domain. In countries of Southeastern Europe the cultural life within cities has been stabilized. At the same time process of festivalization is influental more then ever. This culturaly very diversified region offer numerous cultural monuments, institutions, initiatives and projects as well as pleasant staying in many towns. Special efforts have been made to make these destinations presented in new media. In Croatia in the last period efforts has been made to develop cultural tourism and creative industries. In European countries one of the most important tools for cultural development, particularly when cities are concerned, is strategic planning. This tool has to be defined on national, regional and local level. At the same time it has been asked from cultural institutions and organization also to fulfill this task. From the period of the 80-ies from last century to nowadays the are different strategies for city development. Some of them have been focused on erecting new cultural infrastructure despite are they big or small in size like towns (like Paris and Graz) other, on contrary, biggest efforts had put on as many as possible cultural projects (like London or Lille). British cities extensively developed creative industries with particular focus on new media, fashion, design. It is quite common to invest a lot of financial resources into contemporary art and into museums of contemporary art. At the same time many industrial districts within cities which have been abandoned now are renovated and revitalized and figure as new resources for different cultural institutions and organizations.
