Sažetak
The thesis offers a theoretical and empirical insight into current Western trends in political education ; presents research results (case study, mixed methods research design) on the planned effects of political education in Croatian secondary schools today ; an empirical insight into how the planned effects are translated into practice in two Croatian secondary schools ; it examines students’ attitudes towards both the content and practice of their politics subject in school ; and finally, as a result of the above mentioned aims, issues are raised concerning political education in Croatian secondary schools, and, on the basis of empirical evidence, some preliminary recommendations for the future of political education in Croatia are offered.
