Sažetak
Epidemiological studies have shown that relations between age, sex: and arterial blood pressure vary widely among populations. In this presentation we discuss such relations in the random autochthonous sample of 191 males and 205 females from the island of Krk. Results have shown positive and significant relationship between age and systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels increased with age in both sexes. Such findings made it possible for us to conclude that age and sex are determinants of arterial blood pressure, although the underlying mechanisms are yet to be fully described and understood.
