Sažetak
The anthropogenetic structure of four island and peninsular populations divided into eight sub-population groups (Brac, East, Brac West, Hvar East, Hvar West, Korcula East, Korcula West, Peljesac East and Peljesac West) of the Middle Dalmatia, Croatia, is analyzed on the basis of the study of seven different erythrocyte antigen systems or groups (ABO, Rhesus, Kell, P, Duffy, Kidd and Lutheran), and three erythrocyte isoenzyme systems (ESD, ACP and AK). The average sample size was 400 individuals. Allele frequencies and genetic distances were computed and the results indicate that all the populations in the study have preserved their distinctive characteristics over the course of their (micro)evolution to the present day. This is specially noticeable for the population of Korcula, as it distinguished itself from the other three populations by a greater degree of isolation.
