Sažetak
Precisely this approach, with focus both on the very accentuated regional disparities in Croatia, as well as an approach aiming towards paving the grounds for economic competitiveness of our regions, is the focus of this paper. With the aim of shedding more light on this segment of development, the first part of the paper will give an insight as to the circumstances which led to the current regional policy, followed by an overview of the influence of the European Commission (EC) on our new regional policy. Finally, the new approach and policy framework will be shortly elaborated, as well as some suggestions related to the necessary preconditions, as well as steps necessary for the successful implementation of the new policy framework.
