Sažetak
Proportion of cows covered by routine serological control within the bovine brucellosis programme was estimated at the county and country level and statistical evidence of Brucella abortus free status of the Republic of Croatia was assessed. The FreeCalc analysis module was used in order to assess statistical evidence of freedom from bovine brucellosis of different counties, groups of counties and at the country level. When analysed individually, three counties representing 42.3% of total cow population showed freedom from disease at 0.2% prevalence level among herds, additional five counties were able to achieve statistical evidence of freedom from brucellosis at 0.5% prevalence level. Three counties proved freedom from disease at 1% prevalence level. However 9 counties could not achieve statistical evidence even at such relaxed prevalence level due to small sample size. Statistical evidence confirming freedom from bovine brucellosis of northern counties, unable to achieve evidence at 0.2% prevalence individually, was obtained when these counties were pooled according to similar management practices. Pooled analysis of southern counties showed statistical evidence at 1% predefined prevalence due to small sample size. Analysis at the country level showed strong statistical evidence of freedom from bovine brucellosis at 0.2% prevalence level. Including smallholdings into analysis on the administrative/territorial basis and accepting the attitude about similar level of risk in smallholdings and family farms, the number of tested herds was large enough to provide statistical evidence supporting freedom from bovine brucellosis of the Republic of Croatia.
