Sažetak
The multiple effects in the global economy are not a specific characteristic of tourism, nevertheless it is necessary to underline that tourism in tourism developed regions is the branch with the highest multiplier. In this study the results of multiple effects of tourism consumption in Istria and Croatia are being compared over a few crucial years of the economy transition. From the viewpoint of reviving the economy in general and from the viewpoint of regional development acceleration of Croatia, the players of the economy policy underline as how the multiple functions of tourism are very important. However, the question is what quantity dimensions it has. In order to set right the dimensions of multiple tourism effects in Istria, it is necessary to apply the right method. This is achieved by the input-output table as the main analytic basis. Foreign empirical experiences point out the phenomenon of smaller regional units having the consumption multiplier value lower than the national economy ones. The auxiliary hypothesis of this study, when the tourism multiplier is concerned is the verification of the hypothesis, if and in what degree the multiplier of the tourism consumption of Istria and Croatia differ.
